Aokumo is building the governed execution layer for enterprise AI agents.

Aokumo AI enables agents to understand IT environments, propose actions, obtain approval, execute safely, validate outcomes, and maintain a complete audit trail. We work with enterprise customers across financial services, manufacturing, and other regulated industries.

The Role

We are looking for a hands-on Founding Tech Lead to own the technical delivery of Aokumo AI.

You will work closely with the founders, lead technical execution, and continue writing production code. You will turn product priorities and customer requirements into secure, reliable releases.

This is not a pure management or architecture position. We need someone who can lead, make pragmatic technical decisions, and ship.

Responsibilities

• Technical delivery and release planning for Aokumo AI

• Architecture and implementation of core product capabilities

• Technical leadership and mentorship across the engineering team

• Reliability, testing, security, observability, and production readiness

• Agent execution, approval, validation, audit, and recovery workflows

• Integrations with cloud, development, monitoring, and enterprise systems

• Development of scalable capabilities based on customer requirements

• Engineering standards, code reviews, documentation, and deployment processes

• Technical discussions with enterprise customers, with arrangements available for candidates based outside Japan

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience

• Experience using AI-driven development tools in a team development environment

• Experience leading zero-to-one product development

• Experience leading a product from initial launch through its next stage of scale

• Experience designing, developing, and operating maintainable, extensible Web APIs using REST, gRPC, or GraphQL

• Experience implementing and operating microservices on a major cloud platform

• Experience with infrastructure as code, CI/CD, testing, and observability

• Strong written and spoken English

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience designing and developing highly concurrent asynchronous APIs with asyncio

• Experience operating production workloads on AWS and Kubernetes

• Experience building LLM applications or AI agent systems

• Experience with LangGraph, MCP, Amazon Bedrock, or similar technologies

• Experience with multi-tenant SaaS, BYOC, or on-premises deployments

• Business-level Japanese

What Success Looks Like

After joining, you will be expected to:

• Lead the engineering organization by mentoring team members through technology selection and code reviews, while building a strong foundation for higher technical quality and productivity.

• Translate complex business requirements into system designs that support long-term scalability and maintainability.

• Organize revenue-critical needs from existing and prospective customers and define how the product should address them.

• Make the progress and status of revenue-critical customer projects visible, and communicate them clearly to product owners, stakeholders, and project managers.

• Build a stable development and release cycle by removing technical barriers and leading systems such as CI/CD that enable continuous, safe delivery.

• Take final technical ownership of code quality and the overall system architecture across day-to-day development and releases.

• Improve operational reliability by strengthening agent robustness, defining the testing strategy, and continuously improving production observability.
